## Description

Second Heart Co., Ltd. is a Japan-based company dedicated to preventing severe diabetes complications and reducing avoidable foot amputations. Its mission is to protect the feet of people with diabetes and those receiving dialysis, with the goal of achieving zero amputations. The company envisions a future where people can remain active in society throughout life, supported by the ability to keep moving on their own feet.

Second Heart develops Steplife, a cloud-based foot-management system designed to help healthcare teams detect and monitor signs of foot problems. Its medical-facility web application lets staff photograph and record foot conditions on a tablet, manage images and notes together, and automatically generate care reports. A companion smartphone app encourages patients to check their feet regularly through reminders and self-check records, while enabling them to receive comments from healthcare professionals.

By connecting patients with medical care and combining technology with attentive support, Second Heart seeks to improve access to care, promote early detection, and help prevent complications that can lead to amputation, loss of mobility, or reduced quality of life.
