## Description

Shine is an Irish mental health organisation dedicated to upholding the rights and addressing the needs of people affected by mental illness, including their families and supporters. Its work combines practical support, education and advocacy, with a strong focus on lived experience, recovery and reducing stigma.

Shine offers free, recovery-focused support for individuals with lived experience of mental illness, as well as separate support for relatives and supporters. It provides clear information about mental illness and accessing mental health services, helping people understand their options and find direction. For workplaces, Shine runs a free six-step programme with flexible learning modules and practical strategies to build more supportive, stigma-free cultures.

The organisation also works with journalists and media professionals through guidance, collaboration and training that encourages accurate, respectful reporting. Its wider initiatives include the national Green Ribbon Campaign, advocacy programmes, research, recovery education and fundraising opportunities. Shine’s services and campaigns aim to strengthen understanding, encourage open conversations and improve the quality of life of people affected by mental illness across Ireland.
