About
Description
Maya Angelou Schools • See Forever Foundation is a brand dedicated to creating enriching learning environments in low-income, urban communities. Their mission is to help all students, especially those who have struggled in traditional schools, reach their full potential and prepare for college, career, and lifelong success. The foundation was originally established as the See Forever School, but in 1997, it was renamed The Maya Angelou Public Charter School after the renowned poet and activist, Dr.
Maya Angelou. Dr. Angelou was closely connected to the school and even visited annually.
The See Forever Foundation grew out of Project Soar, a program for teens that integrated academic tutoring, job training, and paid work. Today, the foundation supports the Maya Angelou Public Charter High School and the Maya Angelou Young Adult Learning Center, both located in Washington, DC. They also operate the Maya Angelou Academy in Laurel, Maryland, serving incarcerated young men.
The Maya Angelou Schools • See Forever Foundation is committed to providing an excellent education to students, regardless of their background or previous educational experiences. They aim to empower students to overcome obstacles, succeed academically, and thrive in their lives
