## Description

The Structural Engineers Foundation of Washington (SEFW) is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2010 to advance the profession of structural engineering through scholarships, education, research, and community outreach. Working alongside the Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW), the foundation supports students, professionals, and the public through programs that build understanding of structural engineering.

SEFW funds the SEAW Scholarship Program, which provides awards to Washington residents pursuing structural engineering studies. More than 50 scholarships have been granted since 1985, and the foundation also supports students seeking related learning opportunities. Its educational initiatives include the Fall Forum lecture series, career-focused educational materials, and support for productions about structural engineering. In research, SEFW provides grants, raises funds for SEAW’s Disaster Preparedness Response program, and is developing a grant program for graduate research at Washington universities. Its outreach supports community STEM programs, including student construction-site visits, popsicle-stick bridge-building competitions, and mentoring opportunities. Through these efforts, SEFW connects engineering education and research with meaningful opportunities for students and communities across Washington.
