## Description

Seido Karate Devonport is a non-profit incorporated society that has taught karate on Auckland’s Devonport Peninsula since 1990. Based at 159 Bayswater Avenue, the club welcomes children, adults, youth and seniors to train together in a friendly, supportive environment. New students can try a free trial period, making it easier to experience the program before committing.

The club offers children’s and adults’ general classes, advanced children’s training, black belt classes, general sparring and Iaido, or swordsmanship. Its instruction combines fitness and conditioning with traditional karate and practical self-defence skills, including kicking, punching, grappling, takedowns, sweeps, ground work and rolling. Sparring is not compulsory until green belt.

Classes aim to build confidence, self-discipline, physical fitness, awareness and camaraderie, while supporting students to develop at their own pace. Training is led by qualified black belt instructors, including chief instructors Sei Shihan Danny Watson and Sei Shihan Bruce Craig, who together bring more than 50 years of experience. Prospective members can contact the club for information about courses and instructors.
