## Description

SEIU Local 1000, part of the Service Employees International Union, is a leading public sector union in California, representing 96,000 working people employed by the State. With more than 1400 worksites in California, Texas, New York, Chicago, and Hawaii, Local 1000 plays a crucial role in ensuring fair treatment and safe working conditions for its members. However, Local 1000 goes beyond traditional labor roles. They believe that unions should be relevant in their members' lives beyond the workplace. They work alongside community- and faith-based organizations to create a culture of prosperity and optimism, building communities where families can thrive. Local 1000 fights for economic justice, combating attacks on retirement benefits and advocating for a living wage. They support low-wage workers in their struggle to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour and organize unions in their worksites. By joining forces with like-minded organizations, Local 1000 aims to create a socially and economically just society for all Californians. SEIU Local 1000 is dedicated to giving every Californian the opportunity to have a good life and enjoy the benefits of social, economic, and environmental justice.
