## Description

The Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon (SIM) is a national running event held in honour of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the Indian Air Force’s sole Param Vir Chakra recipient. Its second edition is scheduled for October 4, 2026, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The event celebrates Sekhon’s courage during the 1971 war and aims to promote fitness, endurance, and unity.

Runners can choose from three race formats: a 21.1K half marathon, a 10K speed challenge, and a 5K fitness run. The courses feature electronic chip timing, hydration stations, medical support, and runner kits; the half-marathon route is described as AIMS certified. The event also offers age-group and open-category awards, with a total prize purse exceeding ₹25 lakh. Defence personnel are eligible for a registration discount, subject to ID verification.

Beyond the races, SIM features Indian Air Force displays and performances, including skydiving teams, an Air Warrior drill team, and the Air Force Band.
