The sale was confirmed by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in September 2020, leading to the birth of Sekhukhune United Football Club. The club was officially launched in November 2020, with the objective of reaching the DStv Premiership, South Africa's top-tier league. In their first season in the GladAfrica Championship, they emerged as champions. They subsequently finished the 2021/22 DSTV Premiership season in an impressive 11th position. Sekhukhune United F.C.
