## Description

SEMEGA (Serveis de Millora i Expansió Ramadera i Genètica Aplicada) is a public business entity of the Diputació de Girona, established in 1970 to support livestock farming in Girona’s counties. It works to strengthen the sector through technical advice, technological development, training and the dissemination of knowledge. Based at the Camps i Armet estate in Monells, SEMEGA operates an experimental and practical training unit and provides services focused on livestock improvement. Its activities include milk recording and genetic improvement of Girona cattle, supported by a bull-testing programme conducted in collaboration with centres in other autonomous communities. The organisation also works with embryo transfer and promotes native breeds, including the Ripollesa sheep. Through these services and initiatives, SEMEGA contributes expertise, applied research and practical support to livestock producers and the wider regional farming community. Its website provides information about services, grants, activity reports, documentation, employment opportunities, transparency and electronic services, alongside contact details for its Monells location.
