## Description

Sendai Children’s Foundation is a public interest foundation working to build community-wide support for children’s healthy development and for families raising children. Based in Sendai, Japan, it brings together children, young people, families, organizations, and local communities through programs, grants, research, and events.

Its initiatives include grants for children’s proposals and projects, opportunities for children to share their views, and meetings where children and young people can discuss issues that matter to them. The foundation also supports the creation of welcoming places for children through grants, activity-sharing events, and reports on local spaces. Other programs promote cooperation across generations and help fathers participate in childcare, including a parental-leave support program, consultation and follow-up services, and seminars.

The foundation shares research and practical information, offers child welfare seminars and symposia, and publicizes community events and activities. Donations help fund efforts that encourage children’s independence, initiative, and willingness to take on challenges, as well as the development of places where they can spend time and connect with others.
