## Description

SenseAid is an initiative developing technology to help blind and visually impaired people, as well as others with disabilities, participate in swimming and physical activity more independently and safely. Its mission is to promote relief, empowerment, and independence while making regular swimming pools and sporting venues more accessible.

The initiative addresses three key swimming risks: drifting outside a lane, colliding with the pool wall, and descending dangerously toward the pool floor. Its proposed solution combines a learning machine, positioned at the end of a swimming course, with a wearable device. The machine sets parameters and identifies the swimmer, while the wearable provides different sound and vibration alerts to warn of veering, approaching the end of the lane, or swimming too deeply. These cues are designed to help swimmers stay centered and navigate the pool without relying on another person’s assistance.

SenseAid also aims to adapt its technology for different users and activities.
