Moreover, SESAME proudly holds the distinction of being the world's first large accelerator complex to be fully powered by renewable energy. Inaugurated on February 26, 2019, its solar power plant renders it the world's first carbon-neutral accelerator laboratory. With its commitment to sustainability, SESAME has also pledged to achieve climate neutrality, as endorsed by the United Nations.
