- **Website:** <https://seven-sages-of-rome.org>
- **Primary alias:** `seven-sages-of-rome.org`

## Description

The Seven Sages of Rome project is a unique initiative aimed at elevating awareness of a significant yet obscure premodern text that has been shared across cultures for over five centuries. Funded by a collaboration between the arts and humanities councils of the UK and Germany, this project meticulously examines the text's complex themes, particularly its gender politics through modern scholarly lenses. The project comprises three main strands: a reappraisal of gender dynamics within the narrative, the creation of a multilingual database to document various versions of the text that have yet to be properly edited or identified, and the editing of one of the earliest European adaptations from the Dutch tradition. With the ultimate goal of making this remarkable story widely known, the Seven Sages of Rome project emphasizes scholarly research and collaboration, culminating in events and discussions that foster an ongoing dialogue around this fascinating subject. Stay updated with the project’s latest developments and contributions to the field of humanities.
