## Description

Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) is an independent arts organization based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, dedicated to fostering critical inquiry and cultural exchange among artists, creative practitioners, and the wider community. Its work supports and amplifies artistic practices that engage complex social issues, encourage personal transformation, and contribute to collective action. Since 1985, SFAI’s international Thematic Residency Program has hosted more than 500 artists from around the world. Residencies have explored themes including sovereignty, climate change, labor, truth and reconciliation, equal justice, water rights, immigration, and food justice. The institute also offers fellowships, including the Spinal Cord Artist Residency and Community of Practice: Art in Action Fellowship, alongside opportunities connected to international partners. SFAI extends its programs through open calls, alumni initiatives, public conversations, and community events such as artist meetups, career-development workshops, and artist-led wellness sessions. Its facilities are available for rental, and the organization provides ways for individuals and businesses to support its work through donations, memberships, sponsorships, and room sponsorships.
