## Description

SFB 1171, known as "Affective Societies: Dynamics of Togetherness in Moving Worlds," is a research initiative based at the Freie Universität Berlin. This interdisciplinary project aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the critical roles emotions and affects play in contemporary social interactions. Focusing on the complex dynamics of mobile, interconnected, and mediated environments, SFB 1171 explores the transformative and crisis-related changes associated with today’s global society.

The center conducts a range of research formats and projects, contributing valuable insights into how emotional experiences shape societal structures and personal relationships in the 21st century. By examining current social phenomena through various media, SFB 1171 not only investigates the nuances of emotional life but also aims to disseminate findings through publications, newsletters, and multimedia resources available on its platforms, including a dedicated Vimeo channel. This initiative underscores the Freie Universität Berlin’s commitment to fundamental values of truth, justice, and freedom in research, fostering a holistic understanding of affective practices in modern life.
