## Description

The Société Française de Médecine Générale (SFMG) is an independent association of general practitioners founded in 1973. A non-union scientific society governed under France’s 1901 association law, it brings together around 1,200 associate and full members across the country and works to promote general practice. The SFMG is a member and founding member of the Collège de la Médecine Générale, contributing to its board, bureau, committees, and projects.

Its work focuses on the clinical approach and decision-making specific to general practice. The SFMG develops resources to support physicians, including the Dictionary of Consultation Results (DRC), and addresses topics such as diagnostic uncertainty, multimorbidity, and medical records. Its research and projects explore scientific, sociological, and economic aspects of general medicine, including work presented through the P4DP platform.

The association also provides medical publications, textbooks, theses, definitions, and a reference library. For healthcare professionals, it offers Qualiopi-certified continuing professional development, including e-learning, in-person courses, and peer groups. Its online shop supports membership, subscription payments, and purchases of SFMG manuals.
