## Description

The San Fernando Valley Historical Society (SFVHS) is the oldest historical preservation organization in the San Fernando Valley. Established in 1943, SFVHS has been dedicated to tracing the multi-cultural history of the region. The society's headquarters is located at the historic Andres Pico Adobe in Mission Hills, California, where visitors can explore an extensive collection of artifacts and relics from the Valley's history. SFVHS is committed to preserving and sharing the Valley's heritage through various enrichment programs. These include guest speakers, field trips, museum tours, special events, exhibits, and volunteer opportunities. By linking the past, present, and future, SFVHS aims to educate and entertain the public with their wealth of local history. As a charitable organization, SFVHS appreciates contributions that support their historical programs. Contributions may even be tax-deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The society is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors who oversee preservation projects and public programs. With the management of the Andres Pico Adobe and the San Fernando Valley Heritage Center, SFVHS serves as a museum of local significance, a library, a repository of audio-visual evidence, and a site for historical meetings. Through their efforts, SFVHS is dedicated to preserving the history and cultural heritage of the Valley for future generations.
