## Description

Shari Academy is a photography education institute in Mumbai, established in 1991 and led by founder Girish Mistry and dean Hridgandha Mistry. It offers photography programs for aspiring and developing image-makers, including a two-year Mastercraftsman Diploma. The academy’s teaching combines artistic vision, technical skills and practical experience, helping students develop their own ideas, photographic style and professional body of work. Its approach also emphasizes formal camera technique, lighting, image creation and an understanding of photography as a career and business.

Students have access to experienced faculty, a library of more than 3,000 books, and over 1,000 pieces of equipment, according to the academy. Shari also highlights hands-on learning and the creation of physical, professionally presented work alongside digital skills. Its alumni work across fields including fashion, advertising, commercial, fine-art, travel and photojournalism. With more than 2,500 alumni, the academy presents itself as a place to build creative and practical foundations for a professional future in photography and related imaging disciplines.
