## Description

The Société Historique et Archéologique de Rambouillet et de l’Yveline, known as SHARY, is a local history and heritage association founded in 1836. Based in Rambouillet, it is the town’s oldest association and among France’s longest-running historical societies. SHARY promotes understanding of Rambouillet, the surrounding Yveline region, its forest, heritage and cultural identity through research, publications and public events.

Its activities include publishing historical studies and documents, sharing short articles on regional history, and organising conferences, outings and exhibitions. The association also welcomes contributions from people interested in local history and invites new members to support its work. Members can benefit from its publications, archives and activities while contributing their knowledge to the study of the area.

In 2026, SHARY marks its 190th anniversary with conferences in Rambouillet and nearby communities, an exhibition and a commemorative book. The association also shares information about related historical events, including a regional colloquium on rural life. SHARY is located on Avenue du Maréchal Foch in Rambouillet.
