## Description

Shelby’s Way is a Kentucky-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in Lexington after the 2009 suicide death of founder Mark Cain’s son, Shelby. The organization works to raise awareness of suicide prevention, encourage open conversations about mental health, and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide. Its message emphasizes that people are not alone and that every life matters.

Through donations and community fundraising, Shelby’s Way provides financial assistance for everyday needs, access to mental health care and medicine, and help with funeral expenses for families affected by suicide. It also organizes community events and educational programs, including QPR training, fundraisers, charity raffles, and the Drive for Life. People can support its work by volunteering, attending events, donating, or shopping through its online store.

The organization offers information about warning signs and symptoms, resources for people seeking help, and support for those who have lost someone to suicide. Shelby’s Way also provides speaking engagements and shares testimonial stories, newsletters, and updates. The website lists the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 for crisis support.
