## Description

The Société d’histoire et de généalogie au cœur du Richelieu (SHGCR) is a regional historical and genealogical society serving the towns and municipalities within the original territories of the seigneuries of Belœil and Rouville. It helps people explore local history, family roots, and the area’s cultural heritage through research resources, publications, and public activities.

Its services include access to archives and a library, historical and genealogical research, a historical dictionary, and resources on genealogy around Mont Saint-Hilaire and funerary heritage. The society also offers turnkey projects and member access to specialized indexes, death records, land records, and information about built heritage. Its publications include the Cahier d’histoire, the Le Passeur bulletin, history features, books, and genealogical news. Members of the public can take part in conferences, genealogy activities, training sessions, exhibitions, and special events. The society’s online shop features historical publications and other items, including greeting cards and postcards. Through its collections, programs, and research tools, SHGCR supports the discovery and preservation of the region’s history and family heritage.
