About

Description

South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) was born 50 years ago when a priest, a rabbi, and a minister came together to address the needs of people in Pittsburgh's southern suburban neighborhoods. Since then, SHIM has been dedicated to providing food, clothing, and services to those in need. However, with the rise of suburban poverty, SHIM is expanding its work to include more neighbors helping more neighbors.

SHIM offers a range of programs and services to support the community. These include the SHIM Snapshot, which focuses on providing food and clothes, as well as programs for financial wellness, education, family support, and community building. They also offer assistance in various areas such as basic needs, financial wellness, youth programs, and senior support.

With a vision of creating an inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, SHIM mobilizes community resources and implements sustainable programs. They prioritize equity and inclusion, building community, providing a hand up rather than a handout, and partnering for power. With a team of dedicated volunteers, donors, and partners, SHIM is working tirelessly to reduce the devastating effects of suburban poverty and create a stronger South Hills community
