Shire Midwifery provides personalised, woman-centred maternity and early parenting care to families in the Sutherland Shire and surrounding areas. Led by Tania Bucknell, an Endorsed Midwife, Child and Family Health Midwife, and IBCLC lactation consultant with more than 23 years of experience, the service offers professional support in clients’ homes, with care shaped around their choices and needs.

Services include early pregnancy counselling, antenatal appointments, birth and breastfeeding education, labour support for home or hospital births, and postnatal care. Homebirth support includes birth preparation, labour and birth care, waterbirth options, standard safety equipment, and postnatal follow-up. Families can also access lactation consultations, sleep and settling guidance, support with the transition to parenting, and child and family health developmental checks.

Appointments are designed to be flexible and unhurried, with individual visits or care packages available. Telehealth and some bulk-billed antenatal and postnatal appointments may be offered for eligible clients under Medicare guidelines. Tania can prescribe relevant medications and request pregnancy-related pathology tests and ultrasounds.
