Sholem Los Angeles is a secular and progressive Jewish community that has been a dynamic presence in Los Angeles for over 60 years. They foster a humanistic approach to Jewish learning and culture, embracing diversity and promoting social justice. Their flagship offering is the Sholem Sunday School, which provides a welcoming home for non-religious Jews and intercultural families seeking a vibrant community for themselves and their children. The Sunday school engages children in an exploration of Jewish identity rooted in Jewish culture and traditions of social justice. Classes meet most Sunday mornings during the school year and cover topics such as Jewish history, culture, and ethics. In addition, Sholem offers a secular bar/bat mitzvah program and observances of Jewish holidays. They view their Jewish identity as one that is relevant to contemporary life and committed to justice, peace, and community responsibility.
