## Description

The Ding Darling Wildlife Society (DDWS) is dedicated to wildlife conservation and environmental education, playing a vital role in supporting the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Established in 1982, the Society mobilizes community support and funds to enhance conservation efforts, facilitate land acquisitions, and promote educational programs. DDWS employs a full-time Conservation Educator and has initiated projects like the innovative #LearningLav restroom exhibits, fostering public engagement with nature. Their extensive offerings include a well-stocked Nature Store featuring eco-friendly apparel, unique gifts, children’s books, and collectibles reflecting the rich biodiversity of the Refuge. The Society annually distributes teacher grants, scholarships for biology students, and organizes engaging events such as “Ding” Darling Days and educational film series. A testament to its commitment, DDWS has raised millions to improve Visitor & Education Center facilities and fund essential research initiatives. By fostering awareness and appreciation for wildlife, DDWS cultivates a strong community of advocates for conservation, impacting future generations positively.
