## Description

Illinois Shorthair Rescue (ISR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, breed-specific rescue serving Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. Its mission is to rescue German Shorthaired Pointers (GSPs) and educate the public about the breed, giving unwanted and discarded dogs the chance to find caring, permanent homes. ISR takes in dogs from animal control facilities, humane societies, owner surrenders, puppy mills, and situations involving cruelty or neglect. Each dog receives care and medical attention, then stays indoors with a private foster family while awaiting adoption.

ISR connects approved adopters with dogs seeking homes and guides applicants through an adoption process that includes a completed, verified application and a home visit. The organization also invites people to support its work by fostering, volunteering, or donating. Foster families help prepare dogs for life in their forever homes, while ISR provides foster support and covers veterinary care and other expenses. Additional fundraising opportunities include community rewards and partner programs.
