## Description

The Shōsō-in Exhibition is an annual autumn exhibition in Nara that presents selected treasures from the Shōsō-in repository to the public. The official website shares information about the exhibition and the history and significance of the collection, including objects associated with Emperor Shōmu, offerings to the Great Buddha at Tōdai-ji, and items connected with the temple’s ceremonies and construction. It also explains how treasures are selected, reflecting both the collection’s breadth and recent research.

The 78th exhibition is scheduled for October 24 to November 9, 2026, at the Nara National Museum. Its 60 exhibits include the lacquered ewer Shikkohei, a glass bottle known as Hakururi no Hei, ivory game pieces, and a decorated offering box; 11 items are being shown for the first time. Visitors can use the site to find exhibition highlights, opening hours, access details, ticket information, event listings, and guidance on merchandise and audio guides. Additional resources include videos, articles, lectures, past exhibition summaries, a children’s site, and an online shop.
