## Description

Stichting Historische Schepen Arnhem (SHSA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping Arnhem’s maritime heritage alive. Working with boat owners, skippers and volunteers, it supports historic vessels and shares the city’s shipbuilding and river history with the public.

The foundation manages a quay for historic ships visiting Arnhem and accepts mooring requests from short-term visitors. Through its ship rotation system, historic tugboats, cargo ships and sailing vessels can use participating cities’ berths for periods of up to three months. SHSA also coordinates access to the quay crane and organizes the annual Arnhem Quay Days, where visitors can view ships, take a trip aboard one and experience the riverside nautical atmosphere.

Its heritage work includes research into the 1921 workboat Meteoor, promoting the historic Stadsblokkenwerf and the preserved tug Anders J Goedkoop, and raising awareness of Arnhem’s former ASM shipyard. The foundation also supports the preservation of historic machinery and ship-mill discoveries, and offers presentations, lectures and stories about Arnhem’s river heritage.
