## Description

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association dedicated to fostering a community for students and their advisors who have an interest in physics. Founded in 1968, SPS has grown to encompass over 820 campus chapters and serves as a platform for students in physics and related disciplines, such as astronomy, engineering, and computer science. The organization aims to help students develop essential professional skills beyond traditional coursework, including effective communication, leadership, and networking opportunities.

Members can access valuable resources such as internships, awards, and scholarships, enhancing their academic and professional journeys. SPS also houses Sigma Pi Sigma, a national honor society recognizing outstanding academic achievement in physics. By offering free memberships to multiple professional physics societies through the American Institute of Physics, SPS empowers students to engage meaningfully within their communities and the wider scientific realm. With a commitment to inclusivity and growth, SPS supports undergraduate students in attaining success in their pursuits in physics and astronomy.
