## Description

SignWiki is an innovative initiative designed to empower Deaf communities and educators globally by providing a platform to compile, access, and share sign language resources through mobile and internet technologies. Hosted by the Communication Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SHH) in Iceland, SignWiki originated from a Deaf education project in Namibia that highlighted the pressing need for accessible educational tools for Deaf individuals in developing regions.

With a mission to enhance the development and dissemination of sign language, SignWiki recognizes the wealth of expertise available in many Western countries regarding Deaf education. The project seeks to bridge the gap by encouraging collaboration across borders while facilitating the sharing of online sign language dictionaries and educational resources.

Led by Valgerdur Stefansdottir and Dr. David Bjarnason, SignWiki is dedicated to utilizing modern technology to foster knowledge exchange, thus enabling greater access to sign language education for communities in need. By concentrating efforts on these important issues, SignWiki strives to make meaningful contributions to Deaf education worldwide.
