## Description

Silent Barn is an artist-led cultural organization founded in 2006, known for its art-first, all-ages approach and support for independent, non-commercial work. Its programming included nightly music shows, exhibitions, and community events, created through a collaborative process that welcomed artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds. The organization also provided space for artists-in-residence, studio tenants, and community groups, with an emphasis on safer spaces and neighborhood engagement.

From 2012, Silent Barn operated from a three-story building at 603 Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn. The venue hosted creative work and community activity, including programs by Educated Little Monsters (ELM), a grassroots initiative offering music and arts opportunities for young people of color. Silent Barn supported ELM’s effort to establish a new all-ages venue with local partners after the Bushwick location closed.

Due to financial and operational challenges, Silent Barn ended operations at 603 Bushwick Avenue on April 30, 2018, while maintaining its scheduled events until then.
