## Description

Sint Catharinagilde Hilvarenbeek is an inclusive community association and crossbow-shooting guild in Hilvarenbeek, welcoming people of all ages and genders. Rooted in a history dating to before 1571 and re-established in 1978, the guild preserves its religious character and traditions while embracing modern developments. Brotherhood, friendship and mutual support are central to its community life. It was the first guild in the Netherlands to accept women as full members, in 1978, and continues to welcome them alongside men.

The guild is also a shooting club, with weekly training on Monday evenings at its venue, De Doel, on Roodloop. Visitors can try crossbow shooting through a free, informal introduction. For groups, the guild offers reserved clinics and arrangements suitable for celebrations, company outings, team-building and family days. Activities take place in a heated, covered shooting hall and use professional equipment, with experienced instructors prioritizing safety. Beyond shooting, the association hosts events and maintains traditions such as processions and a ceremonial King’s shooting competition held every four years.
