## Description

Founded in 1964, SIRS Model Airplane Club (Sentral Illinois Radio Society) is an AMA District VI chapter and model aviation community in Central Illinois. The club welcomes visitors when members are present and invites pilots and enthusiasts to fly, share aircraft, and enjoy radio-controlled and control-line modeling. At its flying field, three miles west of Funks Grove, Illinois, members can use an asphalt runway, a turf airfield, a control-line circle, and a renovated patio and enlarged pavilion and shed. The club also hosts indoor flying sessions on almost every Friday, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Mt. Hope/Funks Grove Park District school gym. Indoor models must be electric- or rubber-powered. SIRS organizes meetings, club lunches, and seasonal events, including opportunities to display treasured models and fly with fellow hobbyists. Its website provides an event calendar, newsletters, club bylaws, AMA and FAA information, field directions, and links to club Facebook groups. Members and interested visitors can also sign up for the newsletter.
