## Description

Skavti is a voluntary, national youth organization in Slovenia that focuses on the education and upbringing of children and young people. Founded in 1990, it is based on the principles established by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the scouting movement. With over 5300 active members, Skavti is divided into four age groups, mostly ranging from 6 to 30 years old. The organization is led by more than 900 youth leaders who are volunteers. The main goal of Skavti is to contribute to the holistic physical, mental, spiritual, and social development of children and young people, enabling them to become strong individuals and responsible citizens in their local, national, and international communities. Through the implementation of the scouting method, which is recognized worldwide as one of the most effective informal educational methods for fostering independent individuals and environmental conservation, Skavti conducts over 300 multi-day winter and summer camps and other activities each year. These activities supplement the public school curriculum, focusing on active citizenship, personal development, environmental education, healthy lifestyles, intergenerational cooperation, and acquiring skills for independent living. Skavti is a registered association of public interest in the field of education, a national youth organization, and a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
