## Description

Ski for Light Canada is a registered Canadian charity that makes cross-country skiing accessible to blind and visually impaired people through supportive partnerships with sighted guides. Its annual main event brings skiers and guides together for a week of Nordic skiing, outdoor activity, learning, and community. No previous skiing experience is required: guides can support beginners, and each skier and guide discuss their goals and how they want to work together. Participants can choose how much they ski, while guides accompany them on the trails and may also provide support and companionship during meals. The program emphasizes trust, clear communication, safety, and enjoyment, with partnerships shaped around participants’ abilities and other factors. Ski for Light Canada also offers Ski for Light Borealis, a shorter Nordic ski weekend at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre near Edmonton, designed for both new and experienced skiers. The organization invites people to participate as skiers or guides, volunteer, or donate. Its events also include fundraising activities that help raise community awareness and support its work.
