## Description

Sliding Shores is an interactive sea-level simulator that lets users explore how Earth’s coastlines and landscapes change as ocean levels rise or fall. Using real ETOPO 2022 elevation data, the experience renders a live 3D globe that can be adjusted with a slider, from drained ocean basins to water levels high enough to cover Mount Everest. Users can view place names and choose from preset scenarios spanning geological history, past climate events, and possible future outcomes. Options include the Ice Age, the Last Interglacial, the Cretaceous seas, the Mediterranean’s ancient drainage, melting Greenland or all ice, and a 2100 worst-case projection. The simulator also offers striking reference points, such as submerging the Statue of Liberty’s head or lowering seas to the Dead Sea floor. Designed as an accessible, visual way to examine elevation and sea-level change, Sliding Shores invites users to compare the present with dramatic alternative conditions across the planet.
