## Description

Smalls to the Wall is a whitewater kayaking event held at Smalls Falls near Rangeley, Maine. Described as Maine’s premier steep creek race, it brings adventure-seeking paddlers together for a day of competition and camaraderie in a dramatic natural setting. Smalls Falls features a narrow gorge of rock slides and waterfalls, making it a popular destination for kayakers seeking fast, technical “park ’n huck” paddling.

The event’s race uses a time-trial format, allowing competitors to test their skills on the steep creek course. Beyond the racing, Smalls to the Wall recognizes the contributions of spectators, safety crews, sponsors, and other supporters who help make the gathering possible. Founded and organized by Andrew Cooper, the event was approaching its seventh year in 2020, but that year’s race was canceled because of the COVID-19 situation. Organizers thanked the paddling community and expressed hope of returning the following year. Smalls to the Wall centers on bringing the whitewater community together around a challenging course and a shared enthusiasm for kayaking.
