## Description

The School of Missionary Aviation Technology (SMAT) is a nonprofit aviation school in Ionia, Michigan, providing FAA-certified training for people preparing to serve through missionary aviation. Its Christ-centered, performance-based approach combines professional instruction with a welcoming learning environment and small classes, helping students build relationships with instructors and peers. The school’s mission is to glorify God by equipping individuals to serve others through aviation.

SMAT offers flight training, aircraft maintenance training for airframe and powerplant (A&P) careers, and related technical disciplines. Students gain hands-on experience in laboratory and field settings, with post-graduate opportunities and job resources also available. The school provides information about admissions, financial aid, scholarships, tuition, and university partnerships. Public flight lessons and aircraft maintenance services are available through SMAT Aviation.

SMAT also invites community support through financial donations for scholarships, facilities, and instructional supplies, as well as aircraft donations and volunteer assistance. Through its training and partnerships, the school prepares pilots and aviation mechanics to support mission work around the world.
