## Description

Southwest Michigan Community Action Agency (SMCAA) is a beacon of support in the tri-county area of Van Buren, Berrien, and Cass counties in Southwest Michigan. As a private, non-profit Community Action Agency, SMCAA is dedicated to empowering diverse individuals and families in need and supporting their journey towards economic security. Since its inception in 1982, SMCAA has been committed to fighting poverty and improving the lives of people in the community. We bring together federal and state grant funds, as well as donations from local sources, to deliver a range of programs and services to low-income, vulnerable, and disadvantaged individuals and households. Our core funding comes from the U.S. Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), and we adhere to 58 Organizational Standards to meet funding requirements. In addition to our core programs, we also offer special programs and services that promote health, education, and welfare across the tri-county area. At SMCAA, we believe in the Promise of Community Action, which is to change lives, foster hope, improve communities, and create a better America for all. Our agency is governed by a tri-partite Board of Directors that includes representatives from the public, private, and consumer sectors. We are proud of our growth and success in serving the low-income individuals and families of the community, and we owe our achievements to the generous support of our Community Partners. For assistance or to learn more about our programs, you can visit our main office in Benton Harbor, MI, or contact us via phone or email. Help us in our mission of helping people and changing lives in Southwest Michigan.
