## Description

The Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust is a philanthropic organization established in 1970 by May Smith in honor of her late husband, Stanley Smith, and to fulfill his vision. Inspired by Stanley’s passion for ornamental horticulture, the Trust carries forward his legacy by supporting education and research in the field. It also funds the development and maintenance of public gardens and arboreta that provide educational experiences for visitors.

Since its founding, the Trust has awarded more than $20 million in grants. Its funding supports eligible projects across North America, South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand. The Trust welcomes letters of inquiry from organizations whose work aligns with its funding interests and eligibility requirements. It also provides resources and support for current grantees, including guidance on reporting and acknowledgment.

Through its grantmaking, the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust helps strengthen horticultural learning and research while supporting public spaces where people can engage with ornamental plants and gardens.
