## Description

Smokey Hollow Community is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Syracuse, New York, creating permanent, affordable, and integrated housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded by three parents, the organization is developing a small community of 12 resident-owned condominium homes designed to offer independence, security, and lasting connection. Unlike rental housing or a group home, each home is intended to give its resident ownership and equity. Shared common areas and close-knit neighbors aim to reduce isolation, while residents and their families choose and direct their own support services. For residents with higher support needs, the community model allows the cost of overnight staff to be shared. Smokey Hollow does not provide or coordinate those services. The nonprofit acquired a four-acre site at 170 Lafayette Road and is raising funds to advance the project. Financing is anticipated in 2026, construction is projected to begin in 2027, and residents are expected to move in from 2028 onward. The organization welcomes donations, sponsorships, volunteers, and philanthropic partnerships.
