Great Smoky Mountains Association (GSMA) is a nonprofit cooperating association that supports the perpetual preservation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the national park system. As one of the National Park Service’s oldest and most enduring partnerships, GSMA is dedicated to promoting greater public understanding and appreciation of the park through education, interpretation, and research. GSMA's funding drives various initiatives such as educational programs conducted by rangers at state-of-the-art visitor centers, backcountry rangers who protect and maintain over 800 miles of trails, preservation of historic structures, management of black bears and invasive species, and providing engaging learning experiences to thousands of students who visit the park annually.
