SMOU is a progressive global union that aims to safeguard the interests of seafaring officers. With a growing membership and a dynamic vision, SMOU plays a pivotal role in promoting good industrial relations between its members and their employers in the maritime industry. By negotiating collective bargaining agreements with shipping companies, SMOU works towards improving the wages and working conditions of its members. With over 32,000 members, the union values their contributions to the maritime industry and global economy. SMOU's strong tripartite relationships with the local, regional, and international maritime community ensure that its members are protected wherever they are. Additionally, SMOU takes care of its members and their families by providing a range of welfare benefits, social activities, and education programs. Whether sailing or ashore, SMOU is dedicated to the welfare, family, employment, and education of its members.
