## Description

The Society of Ancients, founded in 1965 by Tony Bath, is a vibrant community dedicated to promoting interest in Ancient and Medieval history through wargaming. With over 1,100 members worldwide, this inclusive society focuses primarily on tabletop gaming with miniatures, while also embracing board games, card games, and computer games. A hallmark of the Society is its variety in gameplay, with no single preferred rule set, allowing members to engage with an eclectic range of games as featured in their journal and forum.

The Society hosts an annual games day that recreates significant battles using numerous rule sets and also offers a residential conference featuring talks and diverse gaming topics. Members can participate in the yearly gaming championship, tracking their battle results across different venues. Governed by an elected committee, the Society emphasizes historical accuracy while providing a platform for discussion and development in ancient wargaming, fostering a rich and supportive community among enthusiasts.
