## Description

Soapbox is an open-source software organisation building tools to help people communicate, organise and create online with greater freedom and control. Its products use open protocols, especially Nostr, to support decentralized social media, censorship-resistant fundraising, encrypted communities and creative projects. The portfolio includes Ditto, Agora, Armada and Shakespeare, alongside developer tools and services such as NostrHub, Nostrify and Mostr.

Beyond software, Soapbox operates infrastructure for the decentralized web, including relays, media servers and a bridge connecting Nostr with the Fediverse. The organisation says its tools support activists, journalists and communities facing censorship or limited access to financial services, with work spanning countries in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and elsewhere. Its services are presented as open and free for everyone.

Soapbox publishes its product source code and says users retain control of their online identity through keys they hold themselves. The organisation is funded through grants and donations rather than advertising, investor funding or user data, and it shares information about its funders and transparency practices.
