## Description

Southern Oklahoma Addiction Recovery (SOAR) is a nonprofit organization based in Ada, Oklahoma, that provides a long-term therapeutic work program for people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Its program serves court-ordered, nonviolent offenders as an alternative to incarceration, offering participants an opportunity to address addiction, work toward recovery, and build a path toward becoming productive members of their communities.

SOAR was established to give local courts an option beyond jail or prison for nonviolent offenders. The organization brings together the criminal justice system, local employers, churches, community organizations, and individuals to support its work. Participants can work to help pay their own way while taking part in the recovery program.

SOAR shares updates, stories, and information about its impact through its website, Facebook, and media coverage, and invites community members to support its mission. The organization says it is exploring ways to expand services for men and hopes to develop a similar program for women. SOAR operates in accordance with Title VI and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
