Socialstyrelsen is Sweden's authority for healthcare and social care knowledge. We exist to ensure that people in Sweden have access to good healthcare and social care on equal terms. Our offerings cover a wide range of areas, including support and regulations for asylum seekers, children and youth, emergency preparedness, organ and tissue donation, mental health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as care hygiene for the elderly.

In addition to our diverse areas of focus, we provide regulations, guidelines, handbooks, and national guidelines, and operate national registers related to healthcare and social services. Our services also include education and training programs, digital development, statistical data, open comparisons, and datasets.

We aim to support a more equitable maternal and neonatal health care environment, address and prevent youth involvement in crime, and provide ample resources to create a resilient and flexible preparedness strategy for healthcare and social care. Additionally, we enable individuals to express their wishes for organ and tissue donation by registering with our system.
