## Description

**Sofia Offshore Wind Farm** is set to become one of the largest offshore wind farm projects globally, located 1400MW off the coast of Dogger Bank in the North Sea. With construction starting in 2021, Sofia promises to be a significant engineering achievement, featuring 100 state-of-the-art turbines, each capable of generating 14MW. The project spans an impressive 593 km² and is positioned at a depth varying from 20m to 35m, making it both technically challenging and rewarding.

Sofia is designed to generate approximately 6 TWh of electricity annually, enough to power around 1.2 million UK homes, thereby contributing significantly to the UK’s transition to renewable energy. With a £3 billion investment expected to yield over 8,800 full-time equivalent jobs, the project emphasizes local supply chains and economic benefits, aiming for more than 50% UK content over its lifetime.

RWE, the owner, envisions leveraging innovative technologies and supplier collaborations to ensure Sofia leads in offshore wind innovations, making a substantial impact in the quest for net-zero emissions.
