## Description

Sogo Museum of Art is a museum located on the sixth floor of Sogo Yokohama Store, near the east exit of Yokohama Station. Opened in 1985, it was Japan’s first registered museum inside a department store. The museum’s collection is centered on approximately 200 oil and watercolor paintings, including works by Shintaro Suzuki. Its exhibitions present a broad range of Japanese and international art, encompassing Western and Japanese painting, crafts, sculpture, prints, calligraphy, and photography. Exhibition programs are designed to appeal to a wide audience and are also highly regarded by specialists. Visitors can explore current and upcoming exhibitions, as well as an archive of past shows, through the museum’s schedule and exhibition information. The museum also offers online ticket purchasing and provides visitor guidance, access details, and news about events. Its related programs include special workshops and gallery talks, such as activities accompanying exhibitions. A museum shop is also available, with operating arrangements noted alongside the museum’s opening schedule.
