## Description

Sydøstjyllands Brandvæsen is a joint municipal emergency service owned by Hedensted and Horsens municipalities. It serves approximately 146,000 residents across 1,072 square kilometres, covering urban and rural communities as well as the islands of Endelave and Hjarnø. Six fire stations provide operational coverage, supported by volunteer fire corps on both islands. The service responds to around 950 incidents each year and carries out approximately 825 fire safety inspections.

Based in Horsens, Sydøstjyllands Brandvæsen manages emergency planning, incident command and statutory authority functions under Danish emergency preparedness legislation. Its responsibilities include fire response, inspections and safety guidance for residents and businesses. The organisation offers courses, including fire and evacuation training and ABA-related instruction, and provides practical advice on topics such as batteries, gas cylinders, fireworks, storms, home heating and safe grilling. For businesses, its services include fire inspections, guidance on temporary accommodation and fireworks sales or storage, and support with automatic fire alarm systems. Sydøstjyllands Brandvæsen aims to develop through learning, professional expertise and innovation while providing round-the-clock protection.
